6th Asia Pacific Goju-Kai Karate-do Championships and Seminar - 2016

Dear Asia and Oceana Bloc IKGA Members,

I hope you are all doing well. The 6th Asia Pacific Goju-Kai Karate-do Championships and Seminar 2015 held in Jakarta, Indonesia from November 26th to December 1st has completed and was a great success. The members from IKGA Indonesia worked very hard in organizing and preparing for this event and made tremendous efforts to resolve any issues quickly. There were 16 participating countries and while most were able to send both competitors and officials, there were some countries that could only send officials. The participating countries were as follows:

Name Gold Silver Bronze
Australia 5 421
Bangladesh003
Brunei Darussalam000
Chinese Taipei8412
Hong Kong2 44

Macau000
Malaysia000
Nepal001

I would like to thank the participating countries for attending and for helping to make this event a success. The level of the competitors was quite high and I was happy to see that by the end of the competition the participating countries had strengthened their bonds of friendship.

I would also like to thank those who participated in the seminar after the tournament. We had about 100 members in attendance and were able to have a good training session together. Next year in 2016, we will have the official Asian Bloc Seminar and Grading in Malaysia. I would like to ask all of you for your support at that event.

Before the Championship and Seminar, we also had a meeting of the IKGA Asia and Oceana Bloc Congress. At this meeting there were several new official appointments announced. Gohei Yamaguchi Shihan (Japan) was appointed as Asia Bloc Director, Hideki Wakasugi Shihan (Japan/Brunei) was appointed as Asia Bloc Vice Director, and Kazuhiko Nobukane Shihan (Cambodia/Thailand) was appointed as Asia Bloc Coordinator.

At this meeting we also presented the revised IKGA Rules and Regulations. For those who were not in attendance, a copy of this will be sent to you. I am very happy that there was a positive response to these new revisions and I eagerly await the agreement of the members of the Asia and Oceana Blocs. I would like to ask for all of your help in further developing the Asia and Oceana Blocs.

Finally, it has been decided that the 7th Asia Pacific Goju-Kai Karate-do Championships and Seminar 2019 will be held in the Philippines. I would like to once again ask for your help and support at that event.

Best Regards,

Goshi Yamaguchi
I.K.G.A. President
